Product Overview

Ferlat Silvano is an independent, family-run winery with over 70 years experience of producing wine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

For the Ferlat Silvano family, minimum environmental impact and maximum effort go into cultivation and vinification. Farming is organic across their 5-hectare plot, and only sulfur and copper are used to manage diseases, pests, and myriad other challenges faced by an eco-friendly vigneron.

When Pinot Grigio grapes are used in the skin contact method, as is done in Ferlat Silvano’s PG Rosa, the result is a unique copper color, with a complex structure and savoriness. Expect a fresh and fruity elixir, with more texture than your everyday Pinot Grigio.

Served chilled, this would make a perfect aperitif. However, it is an immensely food-friendly wine too, that would pair especially well with Asian-inspired dishes.

Ingredients

Made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes.

Frequently Asked Question

What exactly is skin contact wine?

‘Skin Contact’ wine, often referred to as ‘orange’ owing to its color, is a wine made like a red, except using white grapes. This means that the skins of the grapes are not thrown away after pressing but continue to be left in contact with the rest of the grape for a period of time that can vary from days to months.

This is a traditional method of vinification, and, depending on how long the ‘contact’ is, can produce wines ranging from a light honey color, all the way through to something akin to orange soda. The results are often complex, and utterly delicious.
