The BEST Cloud Bread Recipe: Plant-Based Cloud Bread
For those who don’t know, Cloud Bread is a popular recipe that got its start on TikTok and has now made its way across food blogs everywhere with keto-friendly and plant-based versions both sweet and savory. Try this recipe today and let us know what you think.
1 cup of gluten-free flour, such as almond flour
1/2 cup of your preferred plant milk
1/3 cup of Aquafaba (Aquafaba can be made from the water left over in a can of chickpeas!)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp of Redmond Ancient Fine Sea Salt
A few drops of food coloring
Italian Herb Seasoning and Garlic Powder for a savory bread
2 tbsp sugar for a sweet bread
Preheat your oven to 350F.
Take the liquid from your can of chickpeas and pour into a mixing bowl.
Whip your liquid at medium speed with a whisk or stand mixer until stiff peaks are formed.
In a separate mixing bowl, add your almond flour, baking soda, and salt or seasonings based on your preference.
Add you plant milk into the mixing bowl with your dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
Once combined, carefully fold your whipped aquafaba into the bowl.
Fold until combined, ensuring that you never mix vigorously and lose the air in your mixture.
At this point you can also add food coloring to create a whimsical bread. We used green in our recipe!
Using a scoop, add your mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake your cloud bread in the oven until the edges turn brown. It should take about 10 minutes for you bread to finish baking.
Turn off your oven but leave your bread inside for another five minutes.
Now take out your cloud bread and allow to cool on a cooling rack.
You can top your cloud bread with just about anything you can think of. Savory cloud bread is great for sandwiches. In our recipe we have topped our cloudbread with avocado, tomatoes, dried oregano and sesame seeds.
