While working for a smoothie bowl shop during college, Wanna Date? founder Melissa was disappointed by the amount of added sugar in supposedly “healthy” foods. From granola to nut milks, she couldn’t believe the reliance on sugar as a sweetener when so many natural, healthier alternatives exist. For fruit-obsessed Melissa, there couldn’t be a better substitute than dates. And so, Wanna Date? was born out of her college dorm.
