The classic Peace Lily. Need we say more? Oh but we will. This houseplant has been popular for many years, rightfully so. The easy to care for, stunning Peace Lily has continuously shown up in plant lovers homes and we see no end in sight. Keep your Peace Lily in a place with bright indirect to medium light and water when it shows you “the sign” - aka when the leaves begin to droop.

PlantX Top Tip: The Peace Lily is dramatic! Or a really awesome indicator of when they need water - watch for their leaves as they begin to droop.

How to Care for Peace Lily

  • Light: Bright indirect to medium light.
  • Water: Keep the soil slightly moist at all times. You’ll notice the leaves begin to droop when the plant needs water.
  • Humidity: Average relative humidity of 25% to 49%
  • Temperature: Average from 18°C to 24°C (65°F - 75°F)
  • Fertilizer: Follow a monthly fertilizing schedule when the plant is actively growing. In most cases, this is in the spring and summer. Use a balanced fertilizer - this means a ratio of NPK that is all the same. Ex: 10-10-10.
  • Soil: Use a well-draining, high organic matter soil mix.
  • Propagation: Division
  • Repotting: Can be done every 12-18 months. Choose a pot that is 2” larger in diameter than the original pot.
  • Cleaning Tip: Gently wash the leaves of dust and debris with a showerhead and remove any dead or dying foliage.
  • Toxicity: Toxic. It’s always a great practice to keep all plants away from pets and children.

Peace Lily - Common Problems

My plant had one flower but now it is brown and dead, what should I do? Prune the dead flower off at the base of the flower stalk. The Peace Lily is tough to get it to flower again but provide it with bright indirect to medium light and keep the soil slightly moist.

There are faded, yellow marks on the leaves: Your plant may have been too close to direct sunlight. Keep the plant in a location with bright to medium indirect light.

My plant is completely flat, what happened? It is showing you that it needs water! Water it accordingly and it should pop right back up. So cool!

Signs of Overwatering: New growth becomes soft and brown and the leaves begin to drop.

Common Pests: Mealybugs and scale.

Small, but perfect!

I bought this to replace the one I had from my mom's funeral, I lost it in a house fire. The peace lily is the only plant I can keep alive. And this one is no except! It is smaller than I would've liked, but perfect! It came quickly and was still perfectly fine when it arrived as if it had just traveled across the country to get to me
