The XFood meal delivery service was designed by MKC in collaboration with PlantX using high-quality and locally-sourced produce. In line with PlantX’s commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives, the meals will be delivered in environmentally friendly packaging, AND we plan to implement a no-waste food program to ensure that any leftover perishable ingredients that are byproducts of the delicious meals that we deliver to your door will be repurposed and used at MKC restaurants. The meals are prepared by our world-renowned chefs who have been trained by the Matthew Kenney Cuisine test kitchen. All of our delicious recipes are created by Chef Matthew Kenney, and will be sure to delight even the most discerning of taste buds!
We recommend eating your meals within the first 3 days of arrival. Can they last longer? Sure, but for best results and optimal taste, try not to wait longer than 3 days.
As much as we’d love to say yes, in order to maintain the taste and integrity of our dishes, we are not able to offer any substitutions. However, we always welcome your feedback! We have a variety of dishes that cover a spectrum of dietary restrictions – allium free, soy free, nut free, grain free, and gluten-free. We pretty much have it all.
Yes! Our staple – and most popular – items will always be available, but we’ll also be introducing new meals too so you’ll have the opportunity to explore! So, every month, we’ll offer exciting and delicious new seasonal meals for you to enjoy!
Because we’re dedicated to sustainability, we also have a “no food goes to waste business model”. What this means is that any leftover perishable ingredients (lettuce, fruit, etc…) used in the production of our ready-made meals for delivery will be repurposed for Matthew Kenney Restaurants’ use. If it’s edible, it gets eaten, not thrown away!

Our boxes are lined with insulation “pillows” made from recycled plastic bottles. Each of our packages contains material that removes over 18 plastic water bottles from landfills. The insulation itself is recyclable. Given that we are using a same-day courier service, the delivery window is narrow (4-8 hours) and means we can use less ice and materials without compromising freshness and food safety.
Each bottle of juice is packed with 2 to 4 pounds of fresh, local California produce, which is a great way to sneak in some extra fruit and vegetables into your diet! The juices are cold pressed and they are never watered down. They contain 100% juice, with no added sugars, artificial sweeteners/flavors, concentrates, or unhealthy preservatives.
Every juice has an “Enjoy by” date listed on each bottle, but for the best taste, we recommend consuming within 3 days after opening.

Cold pressing is a process of making juice without any heat. The juice is extracted by pressing the fruits and vegetables, instead of using a centrifugal juicer that raises the temperature of the ingredients. Cold pressed juice also uses a method called High Pressure Processing (HPP), not heat pasteurization. Heating compromises the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and nutrients in juice, as well as the taste. That’s why cold pressed juice is healthier, higher quality, and tastes fresher than other juices.
We use a heat-free method called High Pressure Processing (HPP). After juicing, bottles are hermetically sealed and then loaded into a special pressure vessel which fills with cold water. The water is pressurized until it reaches 87,000 psi. This intense pressure kills off any microbes that may cause food borne illnesses. It also extends the refrigerated shelf life of the juice. The best thing about HPP is that it doesn’t heat the juice, so it preserves the delicious fresh flavor and nutrients.
Yes! Thanks to HPP, cold pressed juice is safe for everyone as long as it is properly refrigerated.
Although some people do juice fasts and “cleanses,” cold pressed juice is not intended to be a meal replacement. It’s best enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced diet. We recommend starting the day with a bottle of juice, or enjoying it as a caffeine free pick-me-up in the afternoon.
