What Are Buffalo Cauliflower Wings?

Buffalo Cauliflower wings are like the plant-based version of your traditional chicken buffalo wing, sans the chicken, and healthier for you! These wings are made with cauliflower florets and bakes to perfection for a crunchy texture that’s satisfying to bite into, no frying necessary. Plus, they’re just as tasty! Serve them up with healthy ketchup or plant-based ranch dressing for a buffalo wing substitute that tastes amazing and can be savored by the whole family, no matter their diet.  

How To Make Healthy Baked Cauliflower Wings

The essence of these faux wings is, of course, the batter! To mimic the crispy outside of traditional chicken wings, we’re going to serve you up the best batter recipe for seasoning, coating, and making the perfect cauliflower wings for coating in your fav sauces. Here’s what you’ll need for your batter:
  • ¼ cup of almond meal
  • ½ cup of breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp almond milk
  • Preferred vegetable oil for tossing your cauliflower
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp paprika
  • 1tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  Instructions: First, preheat your oven to 425 F and get a large baking sheet ready by lining it with parchment paper. Spray or lightly coat your florets with your preferred vegetable oil. In a large bowl, mix together your dry ingredients and begin tossing your cauliflower. Add in your almond milk and toss to coat the cauliflower more. Arrange your florets on the baking sheet and place it on the center rack for 25 minutes. Get your fave sauce ready in the meantime and dip your cauliflower in it when ready. Bake your florets for another 15 minutes once they’re saucy, but keep a watchful eye to make sure they don’t burn. You can also set your oven to broil for another 5 minutes if you like them extra crispy. Serve with your favorite dips and enjoy!  

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Sauce Ingredients:
  • ⅔ cup of hot sauce
  • ⅓ cup of margarine
  • 1 ½ tbsp white vinegar
  • ¼ tsp Annie’s Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • One pinch of garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
In a pot, whisk your ingredients together over medium heat until your sauce begins to simmer. Once the liquid starts bubbling, remove from the heat, and stir with a whisk. Set aside for coating.  

Gochujang Cauliflower WingsGochujang, the star ingredient in gochujang cauliflower wings, is placed on a spoon surrounded by red chilis.

Sauce Ingredients:
  • 1 to 2 tbsp Gochujang, or Korean chili paste
  • ½ cup of water
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup of ketchup
  • 1 tbsp liquid aminos
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
Whisk your ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside for coating your cauliflower wings.  

Honey Garlic Sesame Cauliflower Wings

Sauce Ingredients:
  • ¼ cup of honey (you can also replace with agave nectar)Cauliflower wings are baked and coated with barbeque sauce before plated on a white plate with chopsticks and ingredients around the plate.
  • ⅓ cup of Liquid aminos or Coconut Secret Coconut Aminos
  • 2 tbsp of mirin or rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
