Vegan cheese is made of plant-based ingredients. They do not contain any animal ingredients. Sesame seeds, sunflower, nuts like cashew, almond are commonly used to make vegan cheese. Cashews are by far the most popular vegan cheese ingredient due to their creamy texture, which makes its transformation to a wide variety of cheeses quite easy.
Starches are essential for forming the base of vegan cheese and traditional recipes use tapioca that allows the cheese to melt and stretch easily. For vegan cheese to get fattiness resembling dairy cheese, coconut oil is commonly used. It is often mixed with tofu or potato starch. Almonds are also used to make vegan cheese although they aren’t as creamy as cashews.
